The historical legacy of Charing, SMD College has achieved a milestone in its education journey since its inception in 1964, by introducing website in the Central Library. The long dream of students, education seekers and intellectuals has been fulfilled by the Central Library of SMD College. The strong efforts of College fraternity under the stewardship of Dr. Jyotika Borthakur, Librarian of the College helped to reach this destination with the available resources. Message of the Librarian

Academic Libraries are the mirror of the society which reflects the knowledge to be imparted. It is a hub of life-long learning which is not only serves the students community but also serves teachers and meets the information needs of the users. It is considered as spine of an educational institution which supports teaching, research and academic programs. With this perspective Swahid Maniram Dewan College Library was established to fulfill the information needs of the users and to inculcate reading habit amongst the students.
